LG restructures to focus on key business areas and growth

As with many of the “old guard” of Smartphone OEMs, LG has seen its market share erode as well as sales start to stagnate. Despite the company’s holding true to form with the G4 – as opposed to Samsung’s controversial approach with its flagships – and just recently releasing an almost unbreakable V10, the profit picture as far as mobiles go does not look so lavish. To this end, the Korean conglomerate is restructuring its top management.

Three Representative Directors will be heading the company starting in the new year: Jo Seong-jin, President and CEO of Home Appliances & Air Solutions, Juno Cho, President and CEO of Mobile Communications, and David Jung, President and CFO. The existing Vice Chairman and CEO, Koo Bon-joon, will return to LG Corp, the parent company of LG Electronics.

LG has indicated that the “appointments are effective as of Dec. 1, 2015 with promotions taking effect on Jan. 1, 2016. The overall new organizational structure will take effect once confirmed at the general meeting of shareholders in early 2016.”

The company has explained this new management decision as a way to “give each executive more independence and responsibility to facilitate rapid decision-making in today’s fast-changing business environment and diversified consumer segments.”

The new structure will also give each of LG’s four companies — Home Entertainment, Mobile Communications, Home Appliance & Air Solution and Vehicle Components — more autonomy to respond quickly and decisively to market conditions and business growth opportunities. Complementing LG’s ongoing leadership in televisions, mobile devices and appliances, high-growth areas such as automotive components, energy, IT and B2B are expected to drive more of LG’s growth going forward.

With this new change in organization and subsequent explanation, it should give readers an idea of what areas the company may seek to prioritize in the coming year. This is not to say that mobile sales will be placed on back-burner status per se, but with television, appliances, and even automotive parts offering larger potential income, it may ultimately result in an even slimmer Smartphone selection for the year to come.

The company has explained this new management decision as a way to “give each executive more independence and responsibility to facilitate rapid decision-making in today’s fast-changing business environment and diversified consumer segments.” Readers may recall a recent pair of posts that dealt with LG’s apparent decision to make use of an all new, metallic design with next year’s flagship, the G5. Given the backlash some had against Samsung’s

The iPhone 6S Retro Goes Back To The ’80s

Apple has spent decades at the cutting edge of technology. And, as a result, there’s a lot of nostalgia for the “good old days” of Apple, whether those are the days they sold computers in candy colors or the days when they just didn’t use “rose gold.” Sorry, rose gold and gold are tacky, deal with it. This custom iPhone, however, is a more elegant phone for a more civilized age.

Retro phone

In this case, the more civilized age in question is the late ’80s and early ’90s, when computers were plastic and grey and the apple was a rainbow. And it’s not just a case you can slap on, either; this is full custom job by ColorWare, where the back has been removed and replaced with a classic Apple look, complete with the “vanilla-colored” plastic and vents cut into the side. And just like the classic Apple computers of old, you have to use special tools to pry it open!

Beyond the backing, though, it’s the factory standard iPhone 6S, with all the bells and whistles you’ve come to expect from the iPhone. And, of course, despite shipping with modifications, it still comes with all the accessories. ColorWare even provides their own warranty, since Apple probably won’t cover this one.

Applesauce

If you want one of these, you’d better be ready to act fast and pay for the privilege; ColorWare is only making twenty-five of these phones. And as a result, you’re going to pay a premium: This is $1600, and you won’t get it for about three weeks. But if you are a hardcore Apple groupie, or just really want a retro iPhone, you can finally get one. Just don’t be surprised if you boot it up and the first thing you see is a bomb on the screen.

Samsung Galaxy S7’s Exynos 8890 To Enter Mass Production In December Claim Sources

With 2015 slowly but steadily fading away, bits and pieces of information about upcoming devices have started to pop up gradually. At the fore front is Samsung’s Galaxy S7, expected in Q1 2016 and expected to come with a variety of interesting offerings next year. The Korean manufacturing giant, Samsung, has always been under considerable pressure from various quadrants to produce devices that not only satisfy the ever growing needs of its large customer base, but also end up being ‘innovative’ and ‘unique’ in their own aspects.

Samsung To Start Manufacturing Its Next Generation Exynos 8890 From December

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is expected to build upon several critical features that the company introduced this year in the form of the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge. Both the devices came exclusively with Samsung’s Exynos 7420, the Korean manufacturer’s home-grown chip, which managed to outperform other offerings in the market by a large margin.

The Exynos 7420‘s success was also fueled by Qualm's lack of focus towards the Snapdragon 810, a mobile processor that has now become synonymous with throttling issues. Both Qualcomm and Samsung are expected to raise the bar next year however, through the introduction of custom core technologies for chipsets. While Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon is expected to come with the company’s Kryo cores, the Eryngoes 8890 on the other hand is expected to feature custom Mongoose ‘M1‘ cores on board.

Today’s news relates to the manufacturing timeline of the next Exynos, and things can be expected to officially commence on the processor by the start of December this year. Mass production will take place in the company’s plant at Gihueng according to Korean industry sources, though no details have been provided on when the Exynos 8890 will be available for use in the Galaxy S7.

Taking a look at Samsung’s current launch timeline for the Galaxy S flagship smart phones, the Korean manufacturer should have the device (or devices) to be ready by March next year. There have been rumors of the smart phones seeing an early launch, but they have yet to be collaborated by multiple sources. The Samsung Galaxy S7 is expected to feature three variants, one on the aforementioned Exynos 8890 and the other on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 and the Exynos 7422.

Specification wise, the devices are expected to come with a 20MP rear camera sensor, an upgraded multimedia chip and design upgrades that should suffice for yet another calendar year. Samsung’s also rumored to launch the Galaxy S7 Edge and Galaxy S7 Edge Plus concurrently next year, so the list of devices that we’ll get to see could be very long indeed. Let us know what you think in the comments section below and stay tuned for the latest.

Concept images of Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge 2016

3DFuture studio is excited to present a brand new concept images based on one of the latest Samsung patent. This concept depict the new Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge for 2016 with revised edges. The new device has display with edges on the top and on the bottom of the phone instead of the sides as the former SG6 edge.  With this change and full metal body it looks much more luxury than any other previous S-line phone in history.

The concept Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge features several design attributes adopted with previous phones -buttons, speaker, microphone etc. The phone will be waterproofed as we can see that the usb slot is nicely covered.

Based on previous year Samsung would like to keep innovate design elements of their flagship line as it looks like the only way to get closer to their biggest rival with iPhone 6S..
