The iPhone 6S Retro Goes Back To The ’80s

Apple has spent decades at the cutting edge of technology. And, as a result, there’s a lot of nostalgia for the “good old days” of Apple, whether those are the days they sold computers in candy colors or the days when they just didn’t use “rose gold.” Sorry, rose gold and gold are tacky, deal with it. This custom iPhone, however, is a more elegant phone for a more civilized age.

In this case, the more civilized age in question is the late ’80s and early ’90s, when computers were plastic and grey and the apple was a rainbow. And it’s not just a case you can slap on, either; this is full custom job by ColorWare, where the back has been removed and replaced with a classic Apple look, complete with the “vanilla-colored” plastic and vents cut into the side. And just like the classic Apple computers of old, you have to use special tools to pry it open!

Beyond the backing, though, it’s the factory standard iPhone 6S, with all the bells and whistles you’ve come to expect from the iPhone. And, of course, despite shipping with modifications, it still comes with all the accessories. ColorWare even provides their own warranty, since Apple probably won’t cover this one.

Applesauce

If you want one of these, you’d better be ready to act fast and pay for the privilege; ColorWare is only making twenty-five of these phones. And as a result, you’re going to pay a premium: This is $1600, and you won’t get it for about three weeks. But if you are a hardcore Apple groupie, or just really want a retro iPhone, you can finally get one. Just don’t be surprised if you boot it up and the first thing you see is a bomb on the screen.
